Two cops injured after tempo hits their bike on Vakola flyover

The two constables suffered multiple injuries on their hands, legs and face

Two on-duty policemen from Andheri were injured after a tempo hit their bike on the Vakola flyover in Santacruz (East) around 4 am on Wednesday.

The two, head constable Dhananjay Pawar and constable Ganesh Shinde, suffered multiple injuries on their hands, legs and face. They were sent to VN Desai hospital and later shifted to Seven Hills hospital. They are said to be out of danger.

According to the Vakola police, the two policemen dressed in uniform were heading towards South Mumbai to deliver some documents. A tempo hit their bike near Anandvan Udyan on the south-bound stretch of the flyover on the Western Express Highway.

The tempo driver, Abhay Ghadsi, 23, has been detained. The police are registering a case under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 338 (causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code against him.
