Water cut in parts of Thane city after pipe bursts in Khopat
The outlet pipe of Siddheshwar water tank burst, flooding Patilwadi; pipe repaired, but tank will take time to refill.
Several areas in Thane city will experience water cuts at least till late Wednesday afternoon, after a pipe burst near Siddheshwar water tank in Khopat on Tuesday night.

The outlet pipe of the tank burst, flooding the entire Patilwadi area. Though the pipe was repaired by late Tuesday night, the tank will take time to refill.
The incident took place around 10 pm on Tuesday, and initially caused panic among locals as the water flooded the roads. Ravindra Khadtale, deputy city engineer of Thane civic body’s water department, said: “A 600mm water outlet pipe of the tank burst and flooded the area. The pipe was more than 20 years old. Water supply to Uthalsar ward will be affected in the morning. We will try to regularise the supply by afternoon.”
“The pipe was repaired overnight, but it will take some time for the water tank to refill. There could be irregular water supply in the nearby areas,” said Santosh Kadam, chief of Thane’s Regional Disaster Management Cell.
