A 17-year-old, Class 12 student fought three armed robbers — one of them had a country-made revolver — when they barged into his house at Irla, Juhu, on Thursday afternoon.

The boy, Ishaan Mehta, was at home with his mother, Kripa. His father Sandip, a businessman, was at work. Residents of the building, Hrishikesh Apartments, managed to nab one of the robbers after Ishaan raised an alarm.
The police are now tracing the other two accused who have been identified as Arjun Redy and Bunty.
Police said nobody was injured in the incident.
“I was at home with my mother on Thursday afternoon when a man knocked on the door. When I opened the door, there was a man who claimed to be a courier delivery man,” Ishaan, a student of N.M College, Vile Parle, said. “I opened the door and three men barged in. The first one grabbed me and tried to strangle me.”
Ishaan fell but started kicking his attackers and managed to free himself. His mother was in the bathroom when the incident occurred.
“The three men started to run and I started screaming. Residents of the building ran towards the house and managed to nab one of the robbers,” he said.
Deepak Katkade, senior police inspector, Juhu police station, said: “It was quite brave what the boy did. We have arrested one of the accused as the other two managed to flee.”
The police said the apprehended robber had a country-made revolver with him. “Thankfully, none of them used any weapons on the teenager,” said Katkade.
