Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said actor Shah Rukh Khan should make 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab the captain of his IPL cricket team.
“If Shah Rukh is so keen on Pak players, he should make Ajmal Amir Kasab, the 26/11 terrorist, the captain of his IPL team and Afzal Guru, arrested in the Parliament attack the vice-captain,” Uddhav said at a function on Saturday.
Sena activists tore posters of Khan’s forthcoming film My Name is Khan at Kandivli.
Actor Aamir Khan was also dragged into the controversy.
“Aamir and Shah Rukh have been proved as 2 Idiots as both are making stupid statements supporting the cause of Pakistani cricketers,” said a statement in the party’s Hindi mouthpiece Dopahar Ka Saamna.
Aamir had said on Friday that IPL players should be selected on the basis of their performance, not nationality.
The Sena continued its tirade against Padma awardees, actor Saif Ali Khan and former Union minister Balasaheb Vikhe-Patil.
Uddhav opposed the Padma Bhushan award to Vikhe-Patil, whose firm owes power distribution company Mahavitaran Rs 1,800 crore.
He also called Saif a tapori and said he did not deserve the Padma Shri.
