As per the woman’s complaint with the Vakola police station on February 7, she was married in 2003 and had a child. However, her husband deserted her five years ago. In 2010, she met the officer while travelling on a train. She said they soon fell in love and spoke to their parents about getting married. She alleged that they had bought a flat on rent and started living together and even had physical relations several times, but then he went on to marry some other girl.

She alleged that when she confronted him, the man took her to his parents who allegedly offered her money to leave their son. It was then that she returned to Mumbai in February and filed a police complaint. The man, however, has stated that they had physical relations with consent, and that he had never forced her.

He has further alleged that the woman had started blackmailing him and demanded a flat and Rs 10 lakh. He said he had recorded a conversation of her demands which can prove his innocence.
