Man abducts 5-year-old girl from her house in Ghaziabad, rapes her in isolated field

A 21-year-old man allegedly abducted a five-year-old girl while she was sleeping with her grandmother and took her to an isolated field and raped her at Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad

A 21-year-old man allegedly abducted a five-year-old girl while she was sleeping with her grandmother and took her to an isolated field and raped her at Vijay Nagar early Tuesday morning. The girl, after initial treatment by the district hospital, was referred to GTB Hospital in Delhi and is under treatment there, police said.

The girl is a kindergarten student at a private school in Vijay Nagar and is the eldest among her two siblings, police said.

Her brother is around two years and her father is a contractor who takes up house painting jobs. The father alleged that his daughter was abducted around 1.30am on Tuesday.

“The incident took place around 1.30am. We have arrested the accused and are ensuring that the girl gets good medical treatment. The accused will be produced before the court,” said Vaibhav Krishna, senior superintendent of police, Ghaziabad

The girl’s father said she was sleeping on a bed with her grandmother outside the house since there was a power cut. “The accused probably gagged her so that she could not shout. Her mother woke up and found that she had been missing. We launched a search but could not locate her anywhere,” her father said.

“Finally, the locals decided to look in the bushes where she was lying in an unconscious state and the accused was seen escaping from the spot. The local residents first beat him up and then brought him up to the locality. I called up the police and he was arrested. I have filed a police complaint. We scanned for nearby CCTVs and saw that the man was roaming around and took 2 to 3 rounds of my house,” he alleged.

He added that the girl was rushed to MMG district hospital around 4am and was later referred in an ambulance to the hospital in Delhi at around 10.30am, after initial treatment.

“An ambulance was provided by the hospital and she is under treatment. The doctors have taken her to the operation theatre and have told me that she will be here for couple of hours. Thereafter, they will shift her to a ward. She had swelling around her eye and nail marks on her neck besides injuries to her private parts,” he said.

The accused was taken to Vijay Nagar police station where he was arrested by Ghaziabad police. The police said that the accused has been booked under sections for rape and the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
