Late on Saturday, a 24-year-old woman told police that she had filed a fake complaint of rape, hours after she alleged that two men picked her up in a sports utility vehicle outside a metro station in Noida and assaulted her for more than eight hours.
The woman told the police that she was waiting for an auto rickshaw near Golf Course Metro station in Noida at around 6.30pm when the incident took place. Two men allegedly came in a Mahindra Scorpio car and stopped near her. They asked her the way to sector 18-19 and forced her into the car, the police said.
Superintendent of police (city) Arun Kumar Singh said the woman was allegedly taken through various areas of Noida and Delhi. Singh said she was dumped near Akshardham temple in Delhi around 2am after which she called the police control room.
A police team from Mandawli reached her and brought her to Sector 39 police station in Noida. On her complaint, a case was registered under section 376D and 506 of Indian Penal Code.
“The FIR was registered around 2.30am. She denied the medical examination on Saturday morning and refused to handover her mobile phone, citing privacy,” Arun Kumar Singh said.
He added that in such cases if the victim does not want a medical examination, she has to give it in writing and the woman has been informed about it. The case is being investigated to ascertain the sequence of events.
