HT Paathshala has given volunteers a platform to hone their own skills while feeling a sense of responsibility and contribution towards society.

“I volunteered at HT Paathshala primarily because I am passionate about teaching and wanted to gain experience. HT Paathshala offered me a platform to hone my skills while doing something for society. Secondly and more importantly, I believe that education is a powerful tool that can shape our future. It is through education alone that we can make a society of conscientious and responsible individuals and I wanted to do my bit.
On my first day at Pratham Education Foundation, I noticed that the children were hesitant when it came to English and would not speak in English. So I began to teach them basic grammar, punctuation and pronunciation. I also taught them Maths. Over a period of time, I was so happy to see that we had a bond. When the supervisor told me that the children look forward to my classes, it was a big motivator. I had been hesitant due to the location of the NGO initially but all those doubts were washed away when I saw that the children were keen to learn and enjoyed my classes. This has been a valuable experience and confidence booster for me.”
About HT Paathshala
Hindustan Times Paathshala is a CSR initiative to support the education of underprivileged children. Over 70,353 lives have been impacted under various projects of Paathshala since its launch in April, 2012. The volunteer program was initiated on 7 Dec 2015 with our partner NGOs to make volunteering accessible to those interested in devoting time for children in need. Be it a donation or a purposeful hour spent with underprivileged children, small actions make a big difference.
