Intensifying its anti-encroachment drive on the fourth day on Monday, the district administration removed over 200 shops, vegetable outlets, automobile repairing garage, fruit juice stalls, extended boundary walls and stairs, besides huge quantity of wood logs, marble and other construction materials from different parts of the state capital.
In Patna City, encroachments were removed from Zero Mile to Dhanuki Mor, notice was served to a famous commercial establishment named Aditya Vision on Bypass Road, and a fine of Rs 2.15 lakh realised from encroachers.
District Magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi said, “The administration will seal commercial and educational institutions like restaurants, shops and coaching institutes which lack parking space.” The DM also warned that irrespective of stature and position, any person creating obstruction in the drive would be dealt with sternly.
“Coaching institutes, fast food outlets and some malls in Rajendra Nagar, Kankarbagh, Kadam Kuan and other areas, having no parking slots will also face administrative action as our teams are busy identifying them,” the DM said.
In Kadam Kuan, the administration removed encroachment near Uma Cinema. Sensing the tough stand of the high court and the ongoing drive, many small shops adjacent to road were hurriedly shifted or shut down by their owners. Fine worth Rs 35,000 was collected from encroachers on Boring Canal Road.
The decades-old vegetable and fruit market under the Rajendra Nagar bridge was also removed in the drive.
“While FIRs are being lodged against half a dozen persons, traffic police slapped fine on 24 vehicle owners and lifted 20 others for illegal parking,” said Ravi Kumar.
