EC forms committees to check use of illicit drugs in Punjab polls
The Election commission (EC) on Tuesday formulated an action plan on law and order, against use of drugs and alcohol, in the forthcoming polls with the help of state and national agencies. Chief electoral officer, Punjab, VK Singh said that in order to implement the plan, monitoring and coordination committees at the district level have also been constituted.

A spokesman of the commission said the district committees would be headed by the deputy commissioners, as chairperson, and other members of the committee would be the commissioner of police or senior superintendent of police, a representative from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the civil surgeon’s office and the income tax department.
