The ancestral house of Sukhdeep’s husband Iqbal Singh is at Balluana village, 20 kilometres from Bathinda city. The family had shifted to the dera’s Sirsa headquarters, several years back, it was learnt.

The family of Sukhdeep Kaur, who was arrested on Tuesday along with rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s “adopted daughter” Honeypreet Insan, has close association with the sect head.

The ancestral house of Sukhdeep’s husband Iqbal Singh is at Balluana village, 20 kilometres from Bathinda city. The family had shifted to the dera’s Sirsa headquarters, several years back, it was learnt. Villagers said Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s predecessor Shah Satnam Singh had also visited the house many years ago.

Iqbal is seen with the dera head in a group photograph at the house. His uncle Resham Singh stays in the house with his family.

Interestingly, it was a man named Iqbal Singh who drove the car of dera head’s mother Naseeb Kaur when she visited Ram Rahim at the Sunaria jail in Rohtak after his conviction by a special CBI court for raping two of his disciples. The name was entered in the jail register. Resham’s family was said to have gone to Bathinda on Wednesday for treatment of his father Najar Singh.

On the possibility of Honeypreet having stayed at the house for a while, the family’s domestic help Mohar Singh said he had not seen anybody there in the past few days. Lachhman Singh, a villager, said, “We have no idea if Honeypreet stayed here.”
