No FIR against Kamal Nath for 1984 riots, say Cong MLAs

While Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh did not issue a statement showing solidarity with Kamal Nath, the former’s loyalists in the state unit of the party came to his defence on Monday claiming there was no first information report (FIR) against the leader as he was not indicted by any of the 10 commissions of inquiry set up to probe the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Congress vice-presidents Brahm Mohindra and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said it was BJP-appointed Justice Nanavati Commission, which had exonerated Kamal Nath from all allegations.

“Even the Justice Raghanath Misra Commission had also found no role of Kamal Nath. Nearly 10 different committees, commissions and Special Investigation Teams, which had probed the Delhi Sikh o FIR is registered against Shri Kamal Nath regarding Delhi riot cases, then how can anyone blame him,” the Congress MLAs said.
