Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 7 Highlights: Murali Sreeshankar wins silver in long jump; Sudhir gold in para powerlifting

Hat-trick for Harmanpreet! India get a penalty stroke after a Wales player came in the way of a deflecting from Lalit Upadhyay's stick. Wales appeal and the video umpire finds no reason to change the decision. Harmanpreet steps up, sends the goalie the wrong way and gets his hat-trick. 

That was tricky but the Indian pair take the first game 11-8. Both pairs were visibly frustrated with some of the umpiring calls in that game.

Right here are the reigning mixed doubles world champions and they are up against Wales' Peter Creed and Emily Whitlock. 

A good quarter from India. They hardly gave Wales a chance with the one time they came close being when Carson passed the ball to Shipperley inside the circle. But the latter couldn't control it and that was it. 

Another PC, another goal from Harmanpreet. Machine-like precision from him. He goes to the right of goal this time from a PC that India got soon after the first was scored. 

It is a penalty corner in the end that gives India the lead. The PC is held up after a rather lengthy break for referral, at the end of which the video umpire says there is no advice possible. Harmanpreet then threads a flick into the left corner of the goal. Not the usual thunderbolt flick from him but a more carefully placed one that blinds the goalie. 

A rather cagey first quarter. Wales would be pretty happy with how things have gone so far. Their defence has done a good job of keeping out the Indians. 

India need a big win here to keep their top spot in the group and avoid a semi-final against Australia. They currently have a nine-goal lead over second-placed England, who face Canada after this game. Canada can very well ship more than 10 goals against England and so India need a big win here to keep them at bay. 

An extraordinary fightback from the Indians, who as the commentators looked like two individuals for much of the match, somehow fought from 9-0 down in the second game to lose 11-9. They found their groove a bit too late but the Aussie pair would be letting out a sigh of relief there.  

Medal No.5 in boxing for India. She recovers after that tiny blip in the 2nd round and takes the third round unanimously. 

It's only a 3-2 split this time. The New Zealander has a clear disadvantage in height but she tries to close down the distance with Jasmine choosing to dance away. She then decides to attack in the end, which is just as good because that is what may have got her that round. 

Jaismine has the longer reach and Garton does well to maintain her guard in the early part of the round. But the Indian lands a punch and then manages to get a few in. The bell goes just as the two boxers were amping the aggression. The judges though that those punches that she landed were good enough and gives the first round to Jaismine. 

India's Jaismine Lamboria faces faces Troy Garton of New Zealand in the quarterfinal of the 60kg division. Another boxing medal for India?

Chinappa and Sandhu with the very tricky task of facing reigning champions Donna Lobban and Cameron Pilley of Australia. 

Apart from Sunayna and Anahat, the senior pair of Joshana Chinappa and Deepika Pallikal Karthik had received a bye in the round of 32 because of which they are also in the round of 16. Their opponents will be decided after 7pm and their match should be right after Sunayna and Anahat's round of 16 match. 

A more straightforward affair for the Indians in the second game. They win it 11-4 and are through to the next round. This is a best of three match, remember. They will now face Donna Auslobban and Rachael Grinham of Australia at 12.30am today. 

They were trailing for most the game but Sunayna and Anahat keep their cool to take it 11-9. 

14-year-old Anahat Singh and 23-year-old Sunayna Kuruvilla are up against Yeheni Kuruppu and Chanithma Sinaly of Sri Lanka in their women's doubles Round of 32 match.

Borgohain has lost 13-21 after 18 Ends to Ross Davis of Jersey.

Sonal has won her women's table tennis Classes 3-5 Group 2 match against Nigeria's Chinenye Obiora 3-1 (8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-5). 

Bavleen Kaur starts with a score of 18.1 in the Hoops section, which places her in eighth position out of 14 athletes. 

He had said that it was “one bad day” that cost him a medal at the Olympics. Today he was calm and calculative in front of the all-out aggression from the Scot.  His semi-final bout will be at 3.30pm on Saturday. 

End of the road for India in mixed doubles. Jessica Pugh and Callum Hemming had just too much in the locker for them and end up winning 21-18, 21-16

4-1 in favour of the Indian in the second round as well and Amit Panghal is assured of a Commonwealth Games medal. He defends for most of the round with Mulligan raining in the punches and then goes on the attack towards the end, just as his opponent starts feeling the wear and tear of making his hands work at that frantic rate. Very smart from the 2019 world championships silver medallist and he fights for the final on Saturday.
