Former world number one Ana Ivanovic continued on the comeback trail as she ousted 14th seed Nadia Petrova 6-2, 7-5 to reach the Rome Open semi-finals. The Serbian has had a difficult couple of years her French Open win in 2008. But she beat three seeds in a row to reach the semis.

Federer wins
Estoril: Roger Federer overcame a slow start before stepping up a gear to defeat Frenchman Arnaud Clement 7-6 (9/7), 6-2 on Friday and secure a semi-final place at the ATP Estoril Open. The Swiss lifted his spirits as his French Open title defence draws nearer.

Bhambri loses
Kolkata: Top seed Yuki Bhambri lost 6-4, 1-6, 5-7 to fifth seed Murad Inoyatov of Uzbekistan in the semi-finals of the ONGC ITF Futures in Kolkata. In the final on Saturday, Inoyatov will face sixth seed Karan Rastogi, who beat Thailand's Weerapat Doak maiklee 6-3, 6-2.
