Asian Games 2026 Day 6: Roshibina, Seema, relay team lead five-medal surge as India's tally reaches 17

India have already smashed 7 goals past South Korea in what is turning out to be an emphatic performance. India's biggest win against the Koreans in the Asian Games till date came in the 2023 semi-final where they hit five goals past them.

Abhay Singh defeated Ravindu Laksiri of Sri Lanka in the Round of 16, beating him in straight sets (11-3, 11-5, 11-6). He will face Ryunosuke Tsukue of Japan in the quarter-final. He is thus just one win away from assuring a medal for India.

With the mixed team bronze in skeet, India have won 8 shooting medals at the Asian Games 2026. Shooting led the way for India at the Asian Games 2023 with an unprecedented haul of 22 medals, which included seven gold. So far, at the 2026 Games, 8 medals (4 silver and four bronze) and no golds. India have sealed their 8th shooting medal of the Asian Games 2026. In the mixed team skeet event, the duo of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal have won a bronze medal. After 6 series, they were tied with South Korea on 44 points. However, a lower score in the qualification rounds meant they just missed out on a silver as they were eliminated.

After the first three series, India have assured themselves of a medal in the skeet mixed team event. The shooter duo of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal have scored 21 points out of a possible 24 and stand in the bronze medal spot behind China and South Korea. Qatar are eliminated.

In the skeet mixed team final, the team of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal have gotten off to a good start in the first two rounds. The duo hit 14 out of the 16 targets and now stand in the third spot, ahead of Qatar. High chances of the third medal of the day.

In what is their first big test in the Asian Games 2026, the Indian women's hockey team take on South Korea in their third match of the Pool A.

It will be an all-Indian women's singles quarter-final in squash. India No.1 and world No.17 Anahat Singh, a medal hope who received a bye in the first round, gets past Singapore's Au Yeong Wai Lynn in straight games (11-4, 11-5, 11-7). Tanvi Khanna, the India No.2, was made to work by Au Yeong Wai Yhann, also from Singapore, but dug in for a 3-1 (5-11, 11-4, 11-5, 13-11) win. The quarters will be on Friday, and a semi-final spot assures a medal.

At the start of the third round of the men's 70kg boxing Round of 32 against Iraq's Ali Qasim Hamdan Al-Sarray, Sumit suffered a bad injury, as he was hobbling. It looked like an ACL injury, as the Indian pugilist was unable to continue. The referee stopped the contest and awarded a win to the Iraqi. It is a very heartbreaking turn of events for Sumit.

India are through to the semi-final of the men's kabaddi event, confirming a medal for India as both losing semi-finalists also earn bronze. They beat Chinese Taipei by a comfortable score of 37-21. The Indians slowed down the pace of the game towards the end, perhaps to keep the players fresh for the upcoming matches. They will likely face Thailand in the semi-final.

In the women's sabre event in fencing, Bhavani Devi has edged past Mongolia's Oulen Tugsjargan in the Round of 32 to reach the Round of 16. In the next round, Bhavani has a tough test at hand as she will face reigning World Championship silver medallist Rao Xueyi of China.

Rather comfortable in the early exchanges for India against Chinese Taipei. The defending champions go into halftime leading 23-11, having inflicted two all outs on the opposition. There have been flashes of brilliance from the Chinese Taipei defence as they pinned Pawan Sehrawat a few times, but India started to turn the screws towards the end of the half to extend the lead.

Not even one of the three Indian shooters in the men's 10m air pistol category qualified for the individual finals, with all of them finishing outside the top 8. Kamaljeet narrowly missed out on a spot in the final finishing 9th. Akash Bharadwaj finished 11th, while Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve finished in the 35th spot.

Bhavani Devi finished fourth in Pool 4, while Shreya Gupta finished third in Pool 2, at the end of the group stages. They have thus reached the Round of 32. Shreya has gotten a bye into the Round of 16, where she will face Jeon Ha-young of South Korea. In the Round of 32, Bhavani Devi will face Mongolia's Oulen Tugsjargan.

The Indian men's 10m air pistol team of Akash Bharadwaj, Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve finished fourth with 1727 points. They missed out on the bronze medal by just 3 points. Japan finished third with 1730 points. China and South Korea finished in the gold and silver medal positions.

The Indian team of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal have qualified for the skeet mixed team final at the Asian Games 2026. With a total points tally of 138, they finished fourth and pipped Kuwait. They will now battle with Qatar, South Korea and China for a podium finish.

Three matches, three wins for India. Two came in women's doubles, and now in men's singles, where Manush Shah beat Shen Qi Wong of Malaysia 4-0 (11-9, 14-12, 11-7, 11-4).

Anamika Aneesh Kozhinjaparambil came back strongly in the heptathlon after the disappointing start in the 100m hurdles. She finished second in the high jump with a best effort of 1.74m, enough for 903 points. Pooja was joint-fourth with a best effort of 1.71m, thus helping her earn 867 points. Anamika now jumps to sixth in the standings with 1771 points, while Pooja lags behind in 9th with 1761 points.

India's first-ever Olympics fencer Bhavani Devi faced disappointment in her first Pool match against South Korea's Jeongmi Kim as she went down by a margin of 1-5. However, she came back strongly in her second match against Kazakhstan's Aigerim Sarybay by winning 5-4.

The all-Indian squash mixed doubles Round of 16 ends in a win for the experienced pair of Joshana Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar. They defeated the pair of Suraj Chand and Shameena by a margin of 11-7, 11-10. They have thus qualified for the quarter-final of the category.

It is an all-Indian match in the Round of 16 of the mixed doubls category in squash at the Asian Games. The pair of Suraj Chand and Shameena Riaz are taking on the duo Joshana Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar. Unfortunately, it will be only one pair that will go through the quarter-final, while one will be eliminated.

Satnam Singh and Salman Khan have finally received theheir bronze medal after sealing a historic rowing medal at the Asian Games 2026.

India's 4x100m men's swimming relay team of Benedicton Beniston, Aneesh Sunil, Akash Mani and Gitesh Shah finshed second from last in the heats. Overall they finished 12th out of the 13 teams. Their timing was 3:23.51, and they finished last in their heats round.

Another convincing win for India in women's TT. Sreeja Akula and Syndrela Das beat Bolor-erdene Batmunkh and Burenjargal Sanjaa of Mongolia 3-0 win (11-5, 11-4, 12-10) to get their women's doubles campaign off to a flyer. They could face China in their next match.
