Why is Jeff Seeman and Adrian Hill suspended?

The NFL has suspended line judge Jeff Seeman for two games, while referee Adrian Hill has received a one-game suspension. NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the developments on X, citing the league's decision and the incidents involving the two officials.

“The NFL confirmed today that line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended for two games and referee Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game, each for an instance of unprofessional conduct toward a player in Sunday’s Arizona-New York Giants (Seeman) and Miami-Minnesota games (Hill),” Schefter tweeted on X.

Schefter also reported that the suspensions were handed down by NFL Vice President of Officiating Ramon George.

What happened during Cardinals vs Giants?

The disciplinary action involving Seeman comes after the NFLPA criticized the conduct of an NFL official during Sunday's games as “unacceptable.” Seeman was reportedly seen directing expletives at Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during the team's matchup with the New York Giants.

The exchange took place in the fourth quarter after a third-and-3 play, when McBride was disputing a potential pass interference call.

“Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard," NFLPA executive director JC Tretter wrote in a post on X.

Although the broadcast footage appeared to show Seeman directing expletives at McBride, CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala offered a different account. She said on social media that she was standing next to the exchange and did not hear Seeman use any profanity.

What happened in Vikings vs Dolphins clash?

In the Vikings-Dolphins matchup, referee Adrian Hill was also seen appearing to shout at Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson and gesture for him to move away. The exchange followed a play that had already been whistled dead, during which Wilson collided with Hill.

The incident unfolded with 5:30 left in the opening quarter. Hill's officiating crew had already stopped the play after Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner was flagged for a neutral zone infraction.

However, Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon continued his block on Wilson, leading the Vikings linebacker to collide with Hill and knock the referee to the ground.

Wilson later said he simply laughed off what happened with Hill.

"I ended up apologizing to him and explained the situation. He was cool about it. He understood what was going on. He just said he didn't want us fighting, me and [Gordon]. He said he was just trying to break us up," the 32-year-old linebacker explained in the post game media interaction.
