Delhi govt plans to create ‘urban forest’ in Najafgarh

The forest and wildlife department is set to create its first ‘Miyawaki’ forest at Kharkari Jatmal in Najafgarh in southwest Delhi and has floated a tender.

Interpol warrants against two fugitive gangsters

Interpol has issued global arrest warrants for two gangsters, Vikramjit Singh and Kapil Sangwan, based in the UAE and the UK respectively. Singh is a close aide of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, while Sangwan runs his own gang in Delhi NCR. Singh acts as a bridge between Bishnoi's gang and Khalistani terrorists. The National Investigation Agency has found that the gang sends money generated through extortion to Canada, the US, Dubai, Thailand, and Australia for the use of their operatives abroad. The gangsters work closely with Pro-Khalistan elements.

While Brar, a native of Hanumangarh in Rajasthan, is a close aide of Lawrence Bishnoi, dreaded jailed gang leader who runs a syndicate of around 700 henchmen across North Indian states and foreign countries, Kapil Sangwan runs his own gang in Delhi NCR. (Representational image)

Isolated rain fails to keep searing heat in city at bay

Delhi experienced a maximum temperature of 36.7°C on Wednesday, one degree above normal for this time of year, with isolated parts experiencing a drizzle in the morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said southwesterly winds blew towards the region in the last 24 hours, which brought some moisture from the Arabian sea, leading to localised rain spells in some parts. The rise in mercury is likely to continue, with temperatures forecast to touch 37°C on Thursday, 38°C by Friday and 39°C on Saturday, and cross the 40-degree mark by Sunday.

Man shot dead during bid to abduct woman, couple nabbed

Shankar Choudhary, deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka), identified the couple as Daulat Ram and his wife. The police withheld the woman’s name. He said they murdered Sonu Kumar because he allegedly forced Ram’s wife to elope with him after holding their son at gunpoint.
