Anurag Srivastava has degrees in engineering and business management and did a brief stint in the corporate sector before joining the IFS. He also has a postgraduate diploma in diplomatic studies from Oxford University.
India has received requests from several countries, including Bhutan, the Maldives, Iran and Italy, for assistance and essential supplies such as surgical masks and protective gear, and these are being processed, external affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar told a news briefing.
India had earlier provided 15 tonnes of medical equipment to China -- the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak which has reported more than 3,100 fatalities from the infection.
Leaders of countries such as Turkey, Iran and Malaysia too have reiterated their criticism of these issues even though India had described their past remarks on these matters as interference in the country’s internal matters.
