Cat that was abandoned for being ‘too affectionate’ gets adopted. Watch
The video of a cat that was abandoned by its owner for being ‘too affectionate’ was posted on Instagram.
Getting a pet may seem like a great idea but one should think thoroughly about it as it is also a big responsibility. Unfortunately, there are some who get pets but end up abandoning them. This cat named Jerry faced the same situation when his former owner left him for being “too affectionate.” However, things took a positive turn when a rescue centre shared a video about the cat’s ordeals which helped him in finding his forever home.
The Humane Society of Broward County posted the video on Instagram along with a detailed note. “Too affectionate. That’s the reason 4-year-old Jerry was given-up. Jerry is a sweet cat that loves to be pet and rub up against you, but his former owner said it annoyed her too much. Jerry loved her, but she didn’t love him back, so she turned him in to our shelter. Now he’s heartbroken and confused. He’s hoping that someone will love him for who he is - a lovebug! We are told he is good with other laid-back pets. Will you make Jerry your Valentine this year?” the centre wrote while sharing the video. A few days later, they shared a happy update and posted, “Jerry was just adopted by someone that saw his video online!!”

Here’s how Instagram users reacted:
“I’m just stunned by this, I can’t even comprehend what is wrong with some people,” wrote an Instagram user. “Thank goodness, he was destined for a better home. I hope the person realises what they lost,” commented another. “I hope this person never adopts another animal. This is so sad, an animal does not deserve to be abandoned because it is too affectionate. This person does not deserve to be loved by an animal,” expressed a third.
