She left ₹24,000 on bus in 2024. Now, she got it back, all thanks to a conductor

An elderly woman who lost ₹24,000 and her medical files on a bus in 2024 was reunited with her bag after two years. Here’s how.

Losing valuable possessions on public transport usually leads to permanent loss, but an extraordinary act of integrity proved otherwise for an elderly bus commuter. After accidentally leaving a bag containing money on a bus, the passenger assumed her money was gone forever. Unbeknownst to her, an exceptionally honest bus conductor handed the bag to the authorities and repeatedly attempted to identify its rightful owner for over two years. Their paths miraculously crossed again on the same bus route, resulting in a reunion in which the deeply grateful commuter rewarded the staff member's relentless honesty.

What had happened?

Kasabai Gaikwad left ₹24,000 while travelling by bus in 2024, reported News 18. She was on a bus between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Washim when she left her bag. In addition to the money, she also had important medical documents.

For two years, Gaikwad thought that she had lost her money and documents. Unknown to her, there was someone who was trying to find her every day to return it to her. It was a conductor named Raju Vani.

When Gaikwad accidentally left her bag, it was Vani who found it. He instantly took it to the Washim Bus Depot and submitted the bag to the management. However, he didn’t give up and, for two years, kept searching for the bag's rightful owner.

Two years later, he coincidentally met the elderly woman, the outlet reported. Gaikwad travelled on the same bus where Vani was working, giving him a chance to return the money and the bag.

Surprised and happy to get back what she lost two years ago, Gaikwad expressed her gratitude. She praised Vani’s honesty and integrity, rewarding him with ₹1,100.
