India’s Ministry of Defence has signed a ₹1,943 crore contract with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems to lease two MQ-9B Sea Guardian drones for the Indian Navy for 30 months. The high-altitude, long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft will boost India’s maritime domain awareness with advanced sensors and payloads. The systems will provide persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance coverage across vast maritime areas, strengthening the Navy’s ability to monitor developments and respond to emerging challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.
