From another new variant of the coronavirus reaching the United Kingdom, to multiple states in India reimposing night curfew - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. The Indian government said that several infected people with serious conditions were going to hospital late, which was leading to more complications, and a higher death rate. The government of the United States of America (USA) is seeking crores of additional vaccine doses, as per reports. Meanwhile, the UK said that it had detected a new variant of the virus which was first discovered in South Africa.
