Covid update: London scare; 7-day quarantine in Delhi; Pfizer for UK variant?

From mandatory institutional quarantine for UK returnees to rising cases in London, here are the top updates on the coronavirus pandemic. Delhi government on Friday announced mandatory institutional quarantine for those returning from the UK. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the decision was being taken “to protect Delhiites”. Those testing negative will be under seven-day quarantine followed by a week-long quarantine at home, as per new rules. Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan declared a “major incident” in the capital amid rising cases of coronavirus in the UK. Khan said that the “situation in London is now critical” and the virus is “out of control”. Also, the Tamil Nadu government reversed its earlier order of 100 percent capacity in cinema halls. The state government had earlier on January 4 fully reopened cinema halls in Tamil Nadu. As per MHA orders, cinema halls are allowed to open at 50% capacity in view of coronavirus.
