Pongal celebrations are on!

People across South India are celebrating the harvest festival of Pongal with great zeal and fervor. In Tamil Nadu, people celebrate the harvest of rice and other cereals, sugar-cane and turmeric and pray for good harvests in future. Local Gods are worshipped and offered sugarcane while fast is also observed among other forms of celebrations.
