The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir celebrated its first Republic Day since revocation of its special status. Festivities in Jammu were presided over by the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu. He hoisted the tricolour and also addressed the gathering. Referring to the dilution of Article 370, Murmu said that the people of J&K had been elevated to the same stage as the people of the rest of India in terms of 'rights, benefits and possibilities'. Meanwhile, in Doda, the Indian Army organised a 'Run for Fun' marathon which witnessed a significant turnout.
