Although holding no official post, he has been described as the 'unofficial monarch' of Maharashtra. Also referred to as 'Tiger' by his supporters, Balasahab Thackeray remained unmoved from his ideologies for about five decades since when he launched his own outfit Shiv Sena in 1966.
