Constitution Avenue near White House closed

A stretch of Constitution Avenue near the White House was closed following gunfire in the area on Friday night. Shortly afterward, an abandoned vehicle was found in a grassy area near the approach to the bridge. Reports say, witnesses heard shots and saw two vehicles racing on Constitution Avenue toward 17th Street. The U.S. Park Police, who recovered an AK-47 assault rifle in or near the abandoned vehicle, however, has said the White House did not appear to have been the focus of the incident.
