According to the official data on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Non-Manual employees or CPI-UNME, the rising prices of food items have pushed up the consumer price index or CPI by 5.5 per cent during the month of October. A release said that the food, beverages and tobacco group was mainly responsible for the increase in the All-India general index.
