Fresh violence in Assam, five killed

Five people were killed in fresh round of violence in lower Assam's Chirang district taking the death toll taking the death toll to 85 since the riots erupted. According to reports, the five were returning from one of the relief camps. Following the incident, indefinite curfew has been imposed in the district to maintain law and order situation. Security forces are on high alert in the neighboring strife-torn district of Kokrajhar. Meanwhile In an attempt to build confidence among the people from Northeast, who had fled their places of work and study to escape rumoured attacks targeted at them, the Deputy Chief minister of Karnataka, R.
