Indian traders are seeking a transit route, namely the Wagah- Khyber route via Pakistan, to boost trade with Afghanistan. Traders feel that a transit agreement between Indian and Pakistan would help the export of Indian goods to Afghanistan via the Wagah-Khyber route. At present, India and Afghanistan are following an alternative trade route that bypasses Pakistan and goes through Iran, the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea.
