Police defuse live bombs in New Delhi

Elite National Security Guards and Delhi police personnel combed New Delhi after serial blasts targeted the Capital on September13. At least five bombs exploded in quick succession in crowded markets and streets, killing at least 18 people and injuring scores more, police said. Police said they have found and defused three. The failure to prevent the attacks has become an embarrassment for the Congress party led coalition government, with elections less than a year away.
