Power plant shutdown as silt in Satluj increases

A hydel power plant in Himachal Pradesh has temporarily closed due to high silt level in the River Satluj. The river is the major source of water for the plant. The 1,500 Megawatt Nathpa Jakhri power plant in Kinnaur district has been closed for last five days. The plant supplies electricity to other states of northern India as well.
