<p>At first there was Tinder, but just as India had almost settled into the idea of meeting potential romantic partners online, there's this new app doing the rounds called rent-a-boyfriend. So, if you are in Mumbai, this app allows you to rent-a-boyfriend to, wait for it, cure your depression. Really?! The founder of this unusual and pretentiously named app is 29-year-old Kaushal Prakash. His entire marketing pitch is based on 'lonely' women hiring boyfriends to supposedly cure “depression”.</p>

Bull rescued from 35-foot well by farmers using crane in UP

<p>A bull was winched to safety by villagers after stumbling into a well in North India. Footage captured on August 9 in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, shows villagers using a crane to extract the animal from the 35-foot-deep well. As soon as the bull was extracted from the murky water, vets checked it over. Luckily, it only had cuts and scratches.</p>

While the first two read together give you an idea of a certain time and the ways in which the east-west encounter both enriched and depleted, the book on a season that brings much joy and the very well produced one on life on China's fringes are both intellectually stimulating and a visual delight.</p>

Sewer rats being caught for food

<p>Every evening, just after dark, Chea Sokom, leaves his corrugated iron shack on the outskirts of Phnom Penh and sets off on foot through his neighbourhood's myriad of dark alleyways. Armed with a homemade harpoon gun, a wooden club and a bag, he's on the hunt for rats, not to clear his neighbourhood of the rodents, but to catch them for dinner. Popularly considered a disease-carrying nuisance in many societies, rats here are considered by some to be a healthy delicacy due to their free-range lifestyle. Rats are also an important source of income for many families who sell them on to dealers, mostly in Vietnam where Cambodian rats are particularly prized.</p>

Hyderabad man provides food to needy people on daily basis

<p>Hyder Moosvi with his team is dedicated to help the needy in Hyderabad. They distribute 100 food packets to homeless, poor on Dabeerpura bridge on a daily basis. People in large numbers gather daily to take food packets. The initiative by Hyder Moosvi started in the year 2015 when they started distributing eight to ten times in a month. From March 2017 they started distributing food daily. It costs around 40 rupees to prepare a food packet. </p>
