China has drawn a hard line against Washington’s latest pressure campaign on Iran, signaling that it will not help enforce U.S. sanctions on Chinese companies accused of buying Iranian crude. On May 2, China’s Commerce Ministry issued a blocking order covering five firms and said the American measures would neither be recognized nor complied with, calling them a violation of international law and basic norms of international relations.
