Mega farmer mahapanchayat by protesters in UP, Tikait's 'graveyard' warning

Thousands of farmers from UP, other states gathered at Muzaffarnagar for 'Kisan mahapanchayat’. The Kisan panchayat, held just months before UP assembly polls, is aimed at 'saving the country’. Event was organised by Samyukt Kisan Morcha at Muzaffarnagar's Government Inter College ground. Farmers have been protesting at different Delhi borders against Centre's controversial farm laws. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said agitation would continue until their demands are fulfilled by the government. He also drew a parallel between farmers' agitation & the struggle for Independence. Tikait reiterated his pledge to continue protest at Delhi border till their demands are met. BKU & SKM, the umbrella body of protesting farmers, had called for the Mahapanchayat on Sunday. Around 32 farmers unions have set September 8 as the deadline for the government to withdraw the farm laws. Failure to do so will invite bigger protests across the country, farm unions had earlier said. 10 rounds of talks have been held between farmers & govt since the agitation started last year.
