Ukraine Crisis: Macron meets Putin; Hints at de-escalation in Belarus soon

In a series of fresh developments, as the West attempts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Russia has now said that its President Vladimir Putin did not promise the French president any compromise with Ukraine. This comes after a long meeting that Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin held in the Kremlin after which Macron said that Putin has pledged no new Ukraine escalation. Macron then headed for another meeting with the Ukraine President in Kyiv. However, Putin had earlier said that he agrees with several proposals of Macron to de-escalate tensions in Ukraine but reiterated that any possible move to let Ukraine become a part of NATO is dangerous. Meanwhile, Russia continues to deploy its troops in Belarus, the nation bordering Ukraine, claiming that the military build-up is a part of its drills with Belarus.
