Vikram Chandra on farmers ‘stir, India’s economy contracting & other news

With contraction recorded in a consecutive quarter, India is now technically in recession, even though there is a recovery in the dip from the first quarter of the financial year from -23.9% to -7.5%. Meanwhile, farmers protesting against the contentious farm laws were finally allowed to enter Delhi and were escorted to a protest site by the police. And finally, in a ruling by the Supreme Court on the cause of 'personal liberty', Justices D Y Chandrachud and Indira Banerjee said that the criminal justice system cannot be used as a tool for 'selective harassment' of citizens and that the basic rule must remain, 'bail, not jail'. All this and more on the evening playlist with Vikram Chandra
