'Afghan baby lifted over wall at Kabul airport reunited with father': US Marines

The Afghan baby, who was seen in a now-viral video, has been reunited with its father. The baby was seen being lifted up to a US Marine over a barbed-wire fence at Kabul airport. US defense department's spokesperson John Kirby said the baby 'is safe at the airport’. In the video, the baby was seen handed up to a US Marine during chaotic evacuation scenes. “The parent asked the Marines to look after the baby because the baby was ill. The Marine reached over the wall, took it to a Norwegian hospital at the airport. They treated the baby and returned the child to the child's father,” Kirby said. Reports have said desperate Afghan women were throwing their babies over the razor wire of the Kabul Airport compound. At least 12 people have been killed in & around the Kabul airport since Taliban takeover. The Biden administration has faced criticism for its chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. On Friday, President Biden confronted criticism over planning for withdrawal of US troops. Taliban took Afghanistan under control on August 15 & is poised to form the next government. Taliban's swift takeover of the war-torn country has sent shockwaves across the globe.
