Biden targets drilling, fossil fuel subsidies with new orders on climate change

In the most ambitious US effort to stave off the worst effects of climate change, US President Joe Biden signed three executive orders at the White House on January 27 that target federal subsidies for oil and other fossil fuels and halt new oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters. They also intend to conserve 30 percent of the country's lands and ocean waters in the next 10 years and move to an all-electric federal vehicle fleet. Speaking before the signing, Biden said the US ‘has already waited too long to deal with this climate crisis’. Biden said, “In my view, we've already waited too long to deal with this climate crisis. We can't wait any longer and we see it with our own eyes. We feel it, we know it in our bones and it's time to act.” He also added that addressing climate change will create American jobs, not eliminate them. Watch the full video for more.
