A Chinese surveillance ship will enter Male seaport, triggering a fresh row between India and the Maldives. The Chinese dual-use survey ship Xiang Yang Hong 3 will reach the Maldives for personnel rotation and replenishment. The Indian Navy is closely monitoring the Chinese vessel, as the ship has been behaving suspiciously since it left its port of Sanya in China. Recently, the Indonesian Navy pulled a Chinese crew for switching off its transponder at least three times while crossing the Sunda Straits. Marine traffic monitoring sites also showed that the Chinese vessel transponder has been switched off since it entered the Indo-Java Sea around a fortnight ago.
