Ukraine confirmed the loss of a MiG-29 fighter over the Poltava region, with the pilot ejecting safely, while Russian military-linked sources claimed the jet was shot down by a Su-35S using an R-37M long-range air-to-air missile fired from Russia's Belgorod region. The reported engagement took place at a distance of around 190 kilometres and, if independently verified, would rank among the longest-range air-to-air kills recorded in combat, highlighting the growing role of long-range, sensor-driven aerial warfare.
