Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Moscow is ready to help stabilise the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Gulf region amid the continuing US-Iran conflict. Addressing the UN General Assembly, Lavrov called for trust between Iran, Gulf states and Arab nations, arguing that a durable regional security framework is needed to protect global trade and navigation. He said Russia and other “responsible states” could contribute to stabilising the strategic waterway. On Ukraine, Lavrov accused European governments of obstructing peace efforts supported by the Trump administration and insisted Russia would pursue its stated war aims regardless of circumstances.
