He made the remarks on Truth Social after senior US officials called on Iran to publicly declare that the Strait of Hormuz remained open and that ships passing through the key shipping route would no longer be attacked.

Meanwhile, following the latest US strikes on Thursday, Iran was reportedly hit by more attacks, raising questions over who was behind them. Iran had responded to the US strikes on Thursday by targeting Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar.

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to discuss the Strait of Hormuz with his Omani counterpart during a meeting in Oman on Saturday, according to Iran's state-run IRNA news agency.

Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan told state broadcaster TRT that he believed "a solution can be reached" this weekend between Iran and Oman, which are located on opposite sides of the narrow waterway.

However, Araghchi on Saturday accused the US of breaching the interim agreement by ending waivers that allowed Iran to sell crude oil on the open market in US dollars. Washington took the step in response to the attacks on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran war update: UAE crude output hits record high after ramping up production during Iran conflict

Iran war update: The United Arab Emirates raised crude oil production to a record high in June, marking its strongest response yet to supply disruptions caused by the Iran conflict, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

In its monthly report, the IEA said the UAE pumped an average of 4.1 million barrels per day last month, surpassing its previous record of 4 million barrels per day set in 2020 during a brief oil price war with Saudi Arabia over OPEC policy.

The increase comes after the UAE's exit from OPEC and reflects Abu Dhabi's efforts to offset disruptions to global oil supplies during the conflict.

Iran war update: ‘War is not over yet’, says Netanyahu as regional tensions escalate

Iran war update: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that the conflict with Iran is "not over yet," saying Israel is preparing for all possible scenarios as tensions continue to rise following the collapse of the Washington-Tehran truce.

Speaking at an Israeli Air Force graduation ceremony at Hatzerim Air Base on Thursday, Netanyahu said maintaining Israel's air superiority remained central to the country's defence strategy. He added that while Iran had suffered significant setbacks, new security challenges were emerging.

"The Iranian regime has been dealt a severe blow, and our policy is clear that Iran will not possess nuclear weapons, whether with or without an agreement. If we had not acted, Iran would have acquired nuclear weapons; the war is not over yet, and new challenges are emerging before us," Netanyahu said, as quoted by local media outlets.

His remarks come amid renewed regional tensions following the breakdown of the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

US-Iran war LIVE: US rejects Iran's claim of control over Strait of Hormuz transit

US-Iran war LIVE: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday rejected Iran's claim that transit through the Strait of Hormuz is permitted only via routes designated by Tehran.

Refuting the assertion, CENTCOM said US forces have facilitated the safe passage of more than 800 commercial vessels and 380 million barrels of crude oil through the strategic waterway since early May.

In a post on X, CENTCOM said, "CLAIM: Iranian state media claims that transit through the Strait of Hormuz is only permitted through routes designated by Iran. TRUTH: Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. Since early May, U.S. forces have helped facilitate the successful transit of more than 800 commercial vessels and 380 million barrels of crude oil through the vital international trade corridor."

US-Iran war LIVE: LNG tanker traffic through Strait of Hormuz picks up despite renewed Middle East tensions

US-Iran war LIVE: More liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers have resumed transiting the Strait of Hormuz in recent days despite renewed fighting in the Middle East, according to ship-tracking data.

Data from Kpler and LSEG showed that at least five ballast LNG tankers have entered the strategic waterway in recent days. Separately, Japan said 22 Japan-linked vessels have departed the Gulf since Tuesday.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil and LNG shipments, has been under close scrutiny after Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and US retaliatory strikes on Iran disrupted maritime traffic through the region.

US-Iran war LIVE: US-Iran truce hangs by a thread after fresh strikes, sanctions

US-Iran war LIVE: A two-day exchange of airstrikes and the reimposition of US oil sanctions have pushed the fragile US-Iran truce brokered by President Donald Trump into uncertainty.

While the ceasefire has not been formally abandoned, recent developments have cast serious doubt over its future.

The memorandum of understanding, which took effect on June 18, was intended to end hostilities, provide Iran with sanctions relief and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. So far, it has failed to fully achieve any of those goals.

Although Trump declared on Wednesday that the deal was “over,” it has not been officially revoked, and some of its provisions continue to be observed.
