As of 6:18pm EDT on August 23, there were 1,417 reports of Overwatch being down, according to Downdetector data.

What problems are players facing?
For Overwatch players, a routine gaming session can quickly turn into a frustrating wait when the game refuses to connect, launch or complete a login attempt. Users pointing to server connection failure, launch issues and difficulties getting into the game.
As per Downdetector, “Most reported problems” breakdown separately showed 44 percent tied to server connection, 36 percent to game launch and 17 percent to login.
Recent player discussions on Blizzard's Overwatch forums also describe failed connections, loading problems and login failures following updates and maintenance, as per Sunday Guardian.

Another shared their experience mid-match, saying, “Are the overwatch servers down? Was in the middle of a comp match and it kicked me out, now I can't even get back into the game.”
A third player wrote, “blizzard fix ur servers or something bc i get this three times before i can play and then i lag to all hell if i do get in.”
