California man goes for job interview, ends up saving a baby
The event unfolded on May 1 when Ron was returning after applying for a job at restaurant chain Applebee's in California's Hesperia city.
Ron Nessman, a man from California, personified the expression ‘right place at the right time’ when his life took an unexpected turn recently. While heading to rebuild his life after battling months of depression, Ron became a hero last week when he rescued a baby on his way back from a job interview.
The event unfolded on May 1 when Ron was returning after applying for a job at restaurant chain Applebee's. Following his interview in California's San Bernardino county’s city of Hesperia, he was sitting on a bench outside when he saw "an extraordinary emergency unfolding," the Guardian reported.
The incident happened near a car wash, where a woman had placed her great-nephew in a stroller. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind intervened, propelling the stroller towards a busy street with fast-moving cars. That’s when Ron jumped into action, leaped off the bench and managed to seize the stroller just in the nick of time.

"I took off after it…I heard the lady screaming,” Ron said, recalling the incident. "I didn't even have time to think about it. You just react,” the good samaritan added.
Ron’s act was captured on CCTV nearby the incident spot and has gone viral since, earning him praise. In addition, he also landed the job he applied for - as a dishwasher at Applebee, though the restaurant’s general manager Emily Canady clarified that it had nothing to do with the incident. “He's a great guy and he was a great candidate, and he'll definitely fit with us here," she said.
Ron’s sister Donna Gunderson had also witnessed the incident. Ron has been living with his sister for three months, following his troubled life episode of homelessness and poor mental health condition that lasted for eight years. On the incident, she advised the people with babies to be careful and lock the wheels of the strollers on windy days or when on an incline.
