Kangana Ranaut is doing major reshoots for Manikarnika after Sonu Sood left the film. She will shoot more scenes as the first cut reportedly did not do justice to the original script.

As face-off between Sonu Sood and Kangana Ranaut escalates, it has now emerged that what was called patchwork shoot in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, has now blown into a major reshoot, Mid-day reports. Sonu Sood, who left the film which will now be directed by Kangana, has been replaced by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.

Sonu Sood exited Manikarnika and the war of words between him and Kangana Ranaut has escalated.

The report said that what was termed as a 10-day patchwork shoot has now become a 45-day schedule and many scenes from director Krish’s original cut will be shot again. Krish had reportedly left the film as he had already committed his dates to NTR biopic down south and Kangana has stepped into his role.

“During the first screening, the producers noted that the movie didn’t adhere to the script written by KV Vijayendra Prasad. There were glaring discrepancies in character establishment,” a source is quoted as saying. After the reshoot began, they felt ‘they would have to re-shoot several portions, if they were to be honest to the script’. After a meeting with the producers, an additional Rs 20 crore were sanctioned for the shoot.

Hollywood action director Nick Powell is reportedly brought on board to shoot certain action sequences and a special song with Kangana and Ankita Lokhande will be added to the film.

In a statement to Pinkvilla earlier this week, Kangana had said, “Sonu and I haven’t even met since the last shot with Krish (director) last year. He is busy filming Simmba. He couldn’t even give us tentative dates to match combinations with other actors. The producers showed him the film and writers narrated the patchwork to him...he refused to meet me. He vehemently denied to work under a woman director, which is kind of amusing because Sonu is a dear friend and I have even launched the music of a film that he produced on his request, even though the team suggested that they have full faith in me, it seems, Sonu had neither dates nor faith.”

Sonu later lashed out at his ‘dear friend’ Kangana for playing ‘the woman card’. “Kangana is a dear friend and she will always remain one but this constant playing the woman card, the victim card and making this entire issue about male chauvinism is ridiculous,” he told India Today. Film’s producers have said that they have complete faith in their lead actor.
