Emmy nomination for Monica Dogra’s international show
Monica Dogra feels the international docuseries, which is being produced by activist Gloria Steinem, “deserved” the honour.
Monica Dogra has been vocal when it comes to supporting social causes. She has been doing her bit for women’s empowerment. In May, Monica had started working on a video for her new song ‘Shiver’, which has women’s empowerment as the underlying theme.

Almost a year ago, reports had revealed that Monica was the only Indian actress to bag a part in Woman, a docuseries on gender-related violence. The series is being hosted by acclaimed American journalist and women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem, who is also the show’s executive producer.

Now, the docuseries has been nominated for an Emmy, in the Outstanding Nonfiction Series category, this year. Needless to say, Monica is over the moon about the news. She considers herself lucky to be part of such a project. “I can’t believe that the show has been nominated for the best non-fiction series! But, at the same time, I feel the series deserved it. Thanks to Gloria and the entire production team, we are bringing some important women’s issues to light through the power of mainstream media. But, an Emmy! This is one of the most prestigious honours. I feel lucky and blessed,” she says.
