Karan Johar’s upcoming film Student of the Year 2 has garnered a lot of interest with their remixed song, The Jawaani Song, getting a stamp of approval from audience. Starring Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday, the song was unveiled last week. It is remixed version of 1972 RD Burman hit song starring Randhir Kapoor and Jaya Bachchan in the lead roles from the film Jawani Diwani.

While many people liked it, some discerning among the audience didn’t like that the original song was tampered with. Randhir has jumped to its defence saying that thanks to the remixed version, many youngsters are getting to know the original version.

Speaking to Mid Day, he said: “I feel there is no harm in recreating songs. The original track came out four decades ago. Many youngsters were not aware of the song, but today, everyone knows it because of the remix. [After the redux version released], they all went back and searched for the original song on the Internet. I haven’t seen the song, but I have heard it; it has a nice tune. Also, Karan has officially bought the rights of the number. So, his intentions are honest.”

The trailer of the film was released on April and almost immediately Twitter was asking questions like “where are such schools” and “why so much action”. From Tiger’s aerial action stunts to the young beauties fighting for love, amidst the setting of a high-octane competition for a trophy, the three-minute long trailer showcased everything except the element of education.

Student of the Year 2 is the sequel to the 2012 hit Student of The Year, which also marked the Bollywood debut of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The film which is being helmed by Punit Malhotra is set to hit the screens on May 10.
