Nikkei slips as trade turns cautious

The Nikkei average falls 0.36 per cent following a recent rally as trade become cautious ahead of the Bank of Japan's decision on interest rates.

The Nikkei average fell 0.36 per cent on Tuesday with shares in insurers such as Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co Ltd down following a recent rally as trade become cautious ahead of the Bank of Japan's decision on interest rates later in the week.

The Nikkei finished the morning down 64.63 points at 17,769.85 and the broader TOPIX index shed 0.48 per cent to 1,752.66.
