TVS Feb sales rise 31pc

Leading two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company reported 31 per cent jump in February sales on Monday at 1,40,544 units against 107,301 units in the same month previous year.
Cumulative growth for the April-February period of this fiscal stood at 1,375,176 units against 1,207,754 units in the comparable period last fiscal, recording a growth of 14 per cent, a TVS press release said in Chennai.
In the three-wheeler space it had the highest-ever sales at 2,132 units in February against 550 units in February 2009. The April-February cumulative sales stood at 12,549 units.
Domestic two-wheeler sales grew 34 per cent registering 1,21,403 units in February in comparison with 90,718 units in the same month last year, the release said.
Its motorcycle sales registered a buoyant growth of 28 per cent last month with 63,394 units compared to 49,659 units in the same month of the previous year.
Exports continued to show an upward trend posting 15 per cent in February with sales of 19,141 units against 16,583 units in the same month in 2009.
The company introduced TVS Jive, the country's first auto clutch motorcycle in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh last month. It would be made available in phases across the country within the next month. It would also launch TVS Wego in phases from this month, the release added.
